Capital City Roots FC is proud to recognize midfielder Grady Walston on his signing with the Des Moines Menace of USL League Two.
Grady came to the Roots as a midfielder out of Iowa Central Community College and embraced everything this club demands — consistent training, competitive match environments, and a commitment to getting better every day. That commitment earned him an opportunity at the next level, and we could not be more proud to see him take it.
None of this happens without the work put in behind the scenes. Head Coach Hamed Alic and the entire CCRFC coaching staff set a standard at every training session — one that pushes players beyond comfort and prepares them for exactly these kinds of moments. The environment they’ve built inside this club is not recreational. It is competitive, professional, and intentional.
Credit also goes to the United Premier Soccer League and the clubs within the UPSL Premier Division. The level of competition in this league is real. Week in and week out, our players are tested against organized, well-coached clubs from across the region. That exposure matters. It sharpens players in ways that training alone cannot. Grady played in those matches, held his own, and elevated his game because of them.
